BFrame is pleased to announce the launch of BFrame Light, our all-new implementation of our legacy front-end BFrame interface. Key advantages of the new interface include:
- Modern design / works with any modern browser
- Works with a wide variety of screen sizes / mobile responsive
- Customizable work screen
- Extensive use of AJAX / fewer round trips to server, so more efficient
- Emphasis on eliminating extra clicks that slow the agent down
Our team is engaged in a multi-year re-write of the BFrame code base, moving from our legacy Windows/COBOL/classic ASP environment to a more modern Unix/PHP/MySQL environment. The first step was the collector user interface, which is now in production.
While Light does not yet include all the functionality of the core system, it has the 20% that accounts for 80% of the usage and close to 100% of typical collector usage. Over the course of 2022 we will build out the remaining online functionality. In 2023 we will begin replacing our existing COBOL back-end code with re-written PHP scripts, with a goal of a completely modern system by year end 2023.
The combination of BFrame Light and our use of Amazon Web Services puts us in a great position with regard to flexibility, availability, scalability and security. While each customer has their own database, BFrame Light can be multi-tenant, permitting several smaller clients to share a single low-cost application server securely. On the other end of the scale, for larger clients we can easily set up automated load balancing to smoothly ramp capacity up and down over the course of the day in response to changing loads.
One of the hallmarks of the BFrame system is our ability to customize to meet specific client work flow needs and Light extends our capabilities in this regard. With its model-view-controller architecture, BFrame Light is easy to maintain and customize. Over the last few months we were able to create custom functionality for two new clients for whom traditional collections functionality was not an exact match with a fraction of the effort customizing the core system would have required.
While the new interface is based on our legacy, time-tested interface, we are also adding lots of little improvements and enhancements to BFrame Light, all designed to make the system more intuitive and flexible and the agent more productive.
